Feasibility and possibility of recognition of prior formal and non formal and informal learning system within the National Qualifications System in Cyprus

 

The main objective of this project is to undertake a study on the "Feasibility and possibility to recognize prior formal, non formal and informal learning within the national qualifications system in Cyprus”.

The specific objectives of the study are:

  • Mapping and critical overview of the approaches to date and practice in education and training in Cyprus
  • A comprehensive analysis of the current situation regarding the identification, evaluation and validation of prior learning, formal, non formal and informal learning (systems / qualifications frameworks, qualifications, evaluation methods, stakeholders, policy and legislative framework etc.).
  • Analysis and comparison of successful and efficient international practices and relevant EU guidelines on policies and systems for recognizing prior learning. Experiences, practices and developments in the EU Member States regarding the recognition / validation of formal, non formal and informal learning.
  • Specific recommendations regarding the feasibility and the possibility of recognizing formal, non formal and informal prior learning stakeholders for inclusion in the NQF and their linkage to professional qualifications, in order to be able to obtain professional qualifications, and the evaluation of strengths and weaknesses of the individual as a basis for personal improvement.
  • Development of a System of Recognition of Prior Learning within established international practice and relevant EU guidelines, duly adapted to the Cypriot needs, including the necessary organizational and administrative structure.
  • Analysis of good practice on the identification and the recognition of prior formal, non formal and informal learning 
  • Organisation of meetings with relevant stakeholders so as to determine their expectations, needs
  • Definition of specifications for the system of recognition of prior learning
  • Development of a System of Recognition of Prior Learning in Cyprus
  • Presentation of the system to main stakeholders and feedback – organisation of the dissemination event
  • Integration of comments and review of the system proposed
