Erasmus +: EURO4SCIENCE 2.0 – Spin Off of a Forensic Science Educational Strategy Promoting Scientific Literacy and European Students Citizenship (EURO4SCIENCE 2.0) (KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices - Strategic Partnerships for school education)

EURO4SCIENCE 2.0 is a spinoff of Erasmus + KA2 "Euro4Science" and maintains the initial concept of using the motivational value of media coverage on real and fictionalized forensic case files to enhance students interest in STEM; thus, it  contributes to tackle early school leaving and motivation of disadvantage students.
In EURO4SCIENCE 2.0 the topics covered by the activities proposed will promote not only general scientific and media literacy of secondary students but also the values of European citizenship aligned with Europe 2020 strategy.
Students will address values and topics such as freedom, tolerance, non-discrimination and respect for human rights, along with environmental sustainability and health by exploring trans-disciplinary "Case Files" supported by a detailed storyline and a scope of lab and field activities around a Forensic Science Educational Toolbox.

The project identifies certain needs it may contribute to meet: for what concerns the teacher's needs, the primary target is the persistence of a critical demand for updating and training on innovative and motivational strategies, so as to be able to face the increasing challenges of students while giving consideration to educational curricula.

The Euro4science 2.0 is innovative to Euro4Science (previous Erasmus + project). in:

a) Inserting a Video Library of Activities
b) Widening the range of topics covered by the educational toolbox activities in order to address new and important subjects such as citizenship, health and environment.
c) Using ITC and mobile phone apps (for example by integrating geocashing investigation).
c) Creating a network of hotspots for dissemination.
The Euro4science 2.0 is complementary to Euro4Science in:
a) Disseminating the Forensic Science Educational Toolbox by producing and distributing an updated version to 1000 units.
b) Improving workshops for teachers by creating regional hubs of "train the trainers" to boost dissemination

  • Overall responsibility to translate the support documents (Students Guide; Teachers Guide; CSI cases) and the final Book Edition to Greek;
  • Organize and host two Trains the Trainers Workshops.
  • Along with the rest of the partners will also provide ideas for CSI cases (in English) to be integrated in the final version of the Toolbox.
  • Moreover, develop along with the other partners the second version of the toolbox introducing new  fields, such as health, environment and societal values such as non-discrimination and human rights., will develop a book edition on forensic science, enhance the European Network of Forensic science.
