Training Resources for Data Protection Officers: Akmi Metropolitan College (AMC) for the 1st Steering Committee Meeting of DataPRO, an Erasmus+ Project

Akmi Metropolitan College (AMC) was in European University of Cyprus, Nicosia on May 20th and 21st for the 1st Steering Committee Meeting of DataPRO, a Project co-funded by the Erasmus Plus Programme of the European Commission, Key Action 3 Joint Qualifications in Vocational Education and Training.

DataPRO is implemented by a Consortium of 10 partners from 4 European countries (Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece). The project aims at incorporating the new digital mentality that is being shaped to companies, employees and young learners while responding to the fragmented certification system in the field. During the Steering Committee meeting, Partners discussed the milestone reached by Project management as well as the next steps and priorities of implementation. Moreover, the DataPRO consortium defined a common strategy for an effective communication and dissemination of project activities and results. In the following months VET provider’s organisations of the Consortium will design and develop a VET Joint Curriculum. Giving an answer to the fragmentation of the General Data Protection Regulation system with an advanced training for current data protection employees is one of the main objectives of the DataPRO project.

Akmi Metropolitan College (AMC) is one of the largest private VET Providers in Greece (more than 8500 students nationwide) and is established as an institution of educational excellence. Offering both Law and IT, including Forensic science, AMC demonstrates a record of high experience in GDPR 2016/679 covered areas, used as an input during the design of the Joint DPO VET Curriculum. AMC is contributing in all Work Packages of the Project including Project Management with a leading role in designing a VET Joint Curriculum with a strong WBL.
