AKMI Group of Companies participated in the Kick-off meeting of KA3-Support for Policy Reform Joint Qualifications

AKMI Group of Companies successfully participated on 23rd November 2018 in the Kick-off meeting of KA3-Support for Policy Reform Joint Qualifications in Vocational Education and Training, as having been granted as Project Coordinator the NewPost Project under Joint Qualifications call. AKMI Group of Companies was represented by Mr. Theodoros Grassos Development Director and the Project Managers, Mrs. Eleni Damianou and Mrs. Giorina Maratsi.

NewPost Project aims to establish a strong partnership between the partners with a clear intention to provide a new approach towards the needed ICT and soft skills which are necessary for the postal sector, a vibrant economic sector in Europe. For this reason, partners will provide a JOINT VET Curricula for the Postal Sector with a strong WBL program to support the prosperous development of the sector.

During the Kick-off meeting the Coordinators of the successfully submitted projects had the opportunity to get informed about the effective Project Management, the VET policy updates and the financial management of their projects. Furthermore, the Coordinators had the opportunity to network with other partners from all over Europe and discuss bilaterally with EACEA’s representatives the challenges of their projects.

During the “World café” workshops, partners were given the floor to discuss on 4 priority topics:

  1. Recognition of qualification: How will you ensure that the joint qualification is recognised in the countries of the partnership?
  2. Sustainable cooperation: How will you ensure that the new cooperation structures established during the project are sustainable over time?
  3. Skills needs: How will you ensure that the skills needs will be in line with labour market needs in the countries/regions participating in the partnership?
  4. VET employability: How will the project contribute to increasing VET learners employability, and thus to making VET more attractive?

Mrs. Giorina Maratsi from AKMI SA, due to her experience in co-funded European projects as a proposal writer and project manager, was appointed as a rapporteur and coordinated the 4th topic “How will the project contribute to increasing VET learners employability, and thus making VET more attractive?”. Under this topic it was discussed the importance of effective cooperation structures among stakeholders, market representatives, policy makers, professors and in-company trainers in order to become co-shapers in curricula design and therefore increase the attractiveness of VET provision by delivering industry-based knowledge.
